when I was GENERAL SECRETARY of GMC in the year 1973, Dr. Subhadra devi was the principal of the college after Dr. Kodandaramaiah retired. We had a very good rapport in dealing with the student's problems.

Whenever i remember Dr.Subhadra devi, i really feel nostalgic, since she is principal

of GUNTUR MEDICALCOLLEGE ,and HONY PRESIDENT of GMC STUDENTS

ASSOCIATION, and iam the elected GENERAL SECRETARY of the association

in 1972-73 .we had a very good rapport in dealing with student issues.

We created a sort of history in one day in calling of the JAI ANDHRA AGITATION IN 1973

IN AP , as our college is the first one in AP to decide to call off in our general body meeting.

For 3 months ,we closed the college, and already the main agitation is fizzled out,and

we are going to loose the academic year. so all medical colleges in AP have decided to

conduct general body meetings in their respective colleges and take decision regarding

continuation of the strike.

We sent some students to different villages and towns to gather students for GB , as

they have gone ,during strike. under the president ship of Dr.SUBHADRA DEVI, we met in

college auditorium and we took a vote where nearly 600 students attended. almost 3/4th of

them voted for calling of the strike. we passed a resolution to that effect and became the first

college to call off.

irked by this, some jai andhra agitators closed the college gates, and stopped the college buses .

all the GMC students reacted to this and in en mass, opened the gates and allowed the students

to go,supported fully and guided by dr. Subhadra devi.

But unfortunately , we lost 6 months of our academic year, in ANDHRA UNIVERSITY AREA

whereas other UNIVERSITIES,(SV U,UNDER DJ REDDY), adjusted ,and we became 6months juniors

to our own colleagues in other medical colleges in spite our best efforts..

.... . KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
